Brunei Darussalam through the Forestry Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism is hosting the Experiential Learning Exchange, ELE programme under the project Enhancing Conservation and Restoration of Wetlands and Peatlands in ASEAN. The project is organised by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, ACB starting today to 1st April in the capital. 40 participants comprising representatives from ASEAN Member States, ACB; and relevant agencies in Brunei Darussalam are taking part.
The programme provides a peer-to-peer learning platform among ASEAN countries to share experiences, knowledge, and best practices in the sustainable management of peatland and mangrove ecosystems, which play a vital role in biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation.
In addition, a training on the Framework for Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring was conducted on 28th March to enhance the capacity of relevant officers in utilising a global digital platform. The organisation of the programme aims to strengthen ASEAN regional cooperation in the conservation and restoration of peatland and mangrove ecosystems, while enhancing knowledge exchange and experience sharing among Member States.
